CENTRAL POINT, Ore. – The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says one person is dead after a shooting on the 6600 block of Ponderosa Street in Central Point. It happened around 3:30 p.m. The Sheriff’s office says they received a report from a neighbor who heard a gunshot. By the time deputies arrived the man, later identified as 38-year-old Nicholas Patrick Kubasiak, had already passed away outside at the scene.
Police say the scene is secure and there is no continuing threat to the public. They say all of the people involved are accounted for and an investigation is underway.
The Jackson County Major Assault and Death Investigation Unit is involved.
