Oregon Ducks fan starts GoFundMe to buyout Head Coach Mark Helfrich

Eugene, Ore. — The Oregon Ducks are 2-3, 0-2 in conference play. On Saturday, they’re playing the Washington Huskies at Autzen Stadium. The Huskies haven’t defeated the Ducks in 12 years, but this year’s game is making some fans nervous.

NBC affiliate KGW reports one frustrated fan from California is taking out his frustration on the Duck’s head coach, Mark Helfrich. Ducks fan Ryan Sotelo started a GoFundMe campaign to raise $11 million to pay for Helfrich’s buyout.

Sotelo wrote in part, “As fans of Oregon, we all love our Ducks. We love them too much to allow a coach like Helfrich ruin the program.”

The page claims if the funds are not accepted, then all the proceeds will go to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or a similar organization.
