Salem, Ore. — Oregon House Republicans are asking one of their own candidates to withdraw from the upcoming election after a controversial recent Facebook post.
The Oregonian reports George “Sonny” Yellott, who is running for House District 4, that’s the Happy Valley area, posted an image on the site showing President Obama’s head on Saddam Hussein’s body while being hanged.
He’s since taken down the image.
76-year-old Yellott is a board member on the Mount Hood Community College Board. The board is meeting Tuesday night to discuss Yellott’s actions.
He’s lost the previous two elections for the District 48 seat by a wide margin.
