Oregon House committee recommends passing rent control bill

SALEM, Ore. – A state-wide rent control bill is getting closer to the governor’s desk.

In a 6 to 3 vote Wednesday, the House Committee on Human Services and Housing recommended the House pass Senate Bill 608.

The bill would limit rent increases to one-per-year, and cap increases at seven percent above the annual change in the consumer price index.

It would also ban certain no cause evictions. The Senate passed the bill last week.

It now heads to the House floor.
