Oregon Senate voted to approve increase in Oregon’s minimum wage

OREGON STATE POLITICSSalem, Ore. — The Oregon Senate voted to approve a new minimum wage proposal on Wednesday

The revised bill creates a tiered system to raise the minimum wage over six years in three different categories; Portland, rural counties, and everywhere else.

Wages would be incrementally increased until 2022, where the baseline would hit $13.50, the rural wage $12.50, and the Portland wage $14.75.

The Oregon State House of Representatives still has to approve the bill before it goes to Governor Kate Brown.
