Pacific Power preps for storm

Medford, Ore. — Severe weather is expected to batter the northwest into this weekend. The incoming storm is prompting local electric companies to prepare for the worst.

Pacific Power is taking every precaution to get ready for any scenario the wet and windy weather may bring. Some hazards include power outages and downed power lines.

Pacific Power said to ensure it’s ready for the storm, it’s bringing in additional crews. Several hazards can come up during a storm, but the first thing you can do to protect yourself is the most important.

“If a customer sees a down power line or something like that, stay away from it. call us immediately, call emergency services. Call us if need be, but stay away from a power line,” Monte Mendenhall said, Regional Manager for Pacific Power.

There are some steps you can take at home to prepare for the storm.

Pacific Power said to have an emergency kit ready with a flashlight, extra batteries, water, non-perishable food, blankets, and don’t forget a can opener!

If you experience a power outage, pacific power says to report it at 1-877-508-5088.
