Passing vehicle strikes Beaverton Police motorcycle

Beaverton, Ore. – Beaverton Police are asking the public for help identifying the driver of a vehicle that struck a police motorcycle.

The Beaverton Police Department said the incident occurred on Wednesday at 8:45 a.m. on the shoulder of the northbound Highway 217 onramp from Canyon Road.

According to BPD, the officer parked his motorcycle “safely out of the lane of travel” when it was struck by the mirror of a passing vehicle.

The silver Acura MDX initially stopped, but fled the scene.

Police said the officer was not injured.

BPD said, “The exact location an officer ends up parking their motorcycle/car is dictated by where the subject being stopped decides to stop. Also the law requires a vehicle to change lanes and or slow if an emergency vehicle is stopped.”
