It happened Sunday afternoon when police responded to a call about a man standing in an intersection while holding a knife.
Officers said they approached the man and a short time later, they reported that shots had been fired.
The man later died at the scene.
Detectives said “less-lethal and lethal rounds were discharged.”
No word yet on what led to the shooting.
