Person of interest in Apache Hightower homicide investigation behind bars in Oregon

1005-jesse-lane-columbia-countyWilsonville, Ore. – The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office said Jesse Allen Lane, the person of interest in the Apache Hightower homicide investigation, is now in custody in Oregon.

CCSO said deputies had been in Santa Barbara, California during the last few days doing a follow up investigation into the Hightower case. On Tuesday, they transported Lane to the Coffee Creek Correction Facility in Wilsonville, Oregon on a state parole board hold.

Deputies said Lane remains behind bars solely on the parole board hold. Investigators say while Lane is in custody, they’re hoping to learn more about the events of September 19 and 20 before Hightower’s body was found in rural Columbia County.

“Anyone having information that can shed light on this case should contact us through our tip line,” said Columbia County Sheriff Jeff Dickerson. “Especially those people who might have withheld information out of fear of reprisal, might feel more comfortable coming forward with Mr. Lane in custody.”
