Phoenix searches for new city manager

Phoenix, Ore. — The City of Phoenix will be without a city manager for at least another week.

Former Ashland city administrator Dave Kanner was invited to Monday night’s meeting by Mayor Chris Luz as a potential interim city manager.

The council decided not to appoint an interim and to instead wait until the next council meeting where they could hear public comment and to allow time for residents to apply.

“I want to do our due diligence and our first accountability is to the public. And I want to make sure that if they have something to say that they’re included in this process before we make a decision,” stated councilor Sarah Westover.

The incoming manager will have their work cut out for them, only having a few weeks to help prepare the budget.

The next council meeting will take place on March 20th.
