Pickup truck torn in half in Linn County crash

Linn County, Ore. – A pickup truck was sheared in half in a Linn County crash Wednesday night — and the driver was able to walk away from the scene.

The Linn County Sheriff’s Office said the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, identified only as a 17-year-old male, was traveling north on Powerline Road when he lost control of his 1989 Toyota pickup truck while navigating a curve.

Deputies said the vehicle rolled and hit a utility pole, which tore the pickup in half. The driver was able to exit the vehicle with minor injuries. He walked to a nearby residence and called 911.

According to police, the driver was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor.

The investigation is ongoing.
