A pit bull planned to be euthanized gets more time

Josephine County, Ore. — NBC5 News has new information to a story brought to you Wednesday night.

A pit bull scheduled to be euthanized after attacking a horse will have his case heard. Josephine County Commissioner Dan DeYoung confirmed with NBC5 News on Thursday, the board voted unanimously to take the case to a hearings officer.

This, after commissioners previously voted two-to-one for Kron to be euthanized.

“He’s never seen a horse. He was raised in a city. Animals just like people, are scared of things they don’t know and haven’t been raised around,” said Leah Harp, the pit bull’s caretaker.

The board said they notified the owners they could appeal the case to a circuit court judge. For the time being, the dog is still in custody at the Josephine County Animal Shelter.

Harp said she’s gathering a small rally on Friday at 9 a.m. outside the Josephine County Courthouse.
