Plans for Central Point Costco moving forward

Central Point, Ore., — Attempts to halt a new Costco Warehouse in Central Point have failed after two appeals submitted to the Land Use Board of Appeals were denied.

Calvin Martin, a land use planner, asked the state to stop the possible warehouse on Table Rock and Hamrick Roads. He was concerned the warehouse will cause too much traffic, but city leaders disagree.

In April, Community Development Director Tom Humphrey said, “Those plans weren’t done in a closet somewhere. They were very public processes and they are going forward now.”

LUBA had 77 days to make a decision. During that period, Costco was allowed to continue moving forward with the project.
