Police: Albany man shows new car to friends, crashes into home

Albany, Ore. – A man was arrested for DUII after he crashed into an Albany home while he was showing off his new car, according to police.

The Linn County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to a crash on SE Spicer Road at around 2:50 Sunday morning.

According to police, the driver of a 2015 Subaru WRX lost control of the vehicle on a curve. The Subaru left the roadway, crashed through a yard, struck a power pole and hit the front of a house before coming to a stop.

The driver, identified as 33-year-old Joshua Pairan, told deputies he was “out for a drive to show his friends his new car.”

One of Pairan’s two passengers was taken to the hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries, according to deputies.

Pairan was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless endangering, reckless driving, criminal mischief and assault.

Deputies said alcohol and excessive speed appear to be contributing factors to the crash.
