Police in Douglas Co. searching for man involved in pursuit

2016 William Dee SpainDouglas County, Ore. – The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is actively searching for a suspect that was involved in a police pursuit in Creswell.

According to police, at about 8:15 Monday morning, a deputy was checking on a suspicious vehicle on the 1000 block of Territorial Highway in the Curtin area of Lane County. The officer eventually came across two vehicles and multiple people.

The subjects dispersed, and the deputy pursued one of the fleeing vehicles, a white 1994 Honda Accord. The chase continued on Territorial Highway through Lorane, then on to Hamm Road. The vehicle eventually hit spike strips that were set up by Oregon State Police Troopers as the vehicle approached Creswell.

Troopers located the vehicle an hour later at a trailer park south of Creswell. Officers identified the driver as 33-year-old William Dee Spain of Cottage Grove. He is wanted on charges of eluding, reckless driving, recklessly endangering, and driving while suspended. Spain has a felony warrant for parole violation out of Douglas County.
