Police: Man impersonated officer in Central Point

Central Point, Ore. – Police are investigating after they received a report of a man impersonating a police officer.

According to Central Point Police, the impersonator was driving a dark-colored car with red and blue flashing lights. He pulled over a citizen who quickly realized it was not a real officer.

The case is still under investigation.

Central Point Police offered a list of tips to keep in mind if you feel uncomfortable during a traffic stop:

  • Try to pull over in a well-lit, public place if possible.
  • If you are suspicious of an officer, attempt to safely call 911.
  • Ask the Officer to see their badge and ask for his badge number.
  • If you still feel unsure ask the Officer to request a backup officer.
