Police: Man impersonated officer in Central Point

Central Point, Ore. – Police are investigating after they received a report of a man impersonating a police officer.

According to Central Point Police, the impersonator was driving a dark-colored car with red and blue flashing lights. He pulled over a citizen who quickly realized it was not a real officer.

The case is still under investigation.

Central Point Police offered a list of tips to keep in mind if you feel uncomfortable during a traffic stop:

Try to pull over in a well-lit, public place if possible.
If you are suspicious of an officer, attempt to safely call 911.
Ask the Officer to see their badge and ask for his badge number.
If you still feel unsure ask the Officer to request a backup officer.
