Police seize over a pound of meth after traffic stop

0222 Armando Vasques-PenaWhite City, Ore. — More than a pound of methamphetamine is off the streets after a traffic stop in White City.

The Medford Area Drug and Gang Enforcement Team, or MADGE, stopped 56-year-old Armando Vasquez-Pena Saturday morning on Antelope Road and 24th Street. MADGE says they received a tip Vasquez-Pena was trafficking large amounts of drugs from California to Oregon. Officers say Vasquez-Pena was taken into custody for what police identified as a “user amount” of meth that was found on his person. After a K-9 unit alerted officers to the possible presence of additional narcotics in the vehicle, it was seized and searched. After the search officers say they found a pound of meth in the vehicle. Investigators believe the meth was obtained in Corona, California and transported to Southern Oregon for delivery to users.

Vasquez-Pena has been charged with possession and delivery of a controlled substance. He’s currently being held at the Jackson County Jail.
