Portland landslide buries vehicle

Portland, Ore. – A landslide partially buried a vehicle carrying three people on a Portland-area road Wednesday.

Portland Fire and Rescue said the slide happened around 7:10 a.m. on Burnside, just west of Skyline Boulevard.

When crews arrived, they found that an area estimated at 75 by 150 feet had separated from a hill and slid onto the road.

PF&R said a vehicle that was driving eastbound on Burnside was hit by the landslide. The three men inside the vehicle were able to escape the partially buried vehicle through the passenger side window. There were no injuries.

Fire and rescue crews continued to search for other vehicle but none were found.

Crews are working on a plan to dig away debris and confirm no other vehicles are trapped beneath.
