UPDATE (02/01 3:57pm): Ashland Police are reporting the kidnapping may be a possible hoax.

Ashland, Ore. — Southern Oregon University reported a possible kidnapping Monday afternoon near the Hawk dining facility on the university campus.
Officials report that there is not an ongoing threat, but are encouraging vigilance. Anyone who may have information that could help investigators is asked to call 911.
The Ashland Police Department was not immediately available for comment.
