Powerball fever: could a Rogue Valley resident be the next big winner?

Jacksonville, Ore. — Lines are getting longer, as the Powerball jackpot grows bigger, and as of Friday night, that jackpot sits at $800 million big ones. People we spoke with today hope a Rogue Valley resident will be the next winner.

Ray’s in Jacksonville is known to have had quite a few winners walk out their doors, including the West family who won $300-million playing Powerball in 2005, and people are hoping they’ll have the same luck with this drawing.

Many of the customers we spoke with say the computer generated quick-pick numbers are the way to go, and they say you have to buy a few to increase your odds. How big are those odds? Well you’re more likely to be struck by lightning or killed by an asteroid than you are to win. And let’s face it many of us will not win the jackpot Saturday night, but you may still win something. The J’Ville Tavern just sold a $50,000 winning ticket last month. The winner though, has yet to come forward.
