Probe of Amtrack crash continues

(NBC News) Two Amtrak workers were killed Sunday morning when a train slammed into the backhoe they were using on the tracks just south of Philadelphia.

Investigators with the National Transportation Safety Board remain on site, working to determine how and why the tractor ended up in the train’s path.

More than 300 passengers and seven crew members were on-board the palmetto train 89, bound from from New York to Savannah, Georgia.

Thirty were taken to area hospitals, including the engineer. None of their injuries are considered life-threatening.
