Prominent R.V. businessman charged with assault

Louis MaharMedford, Ore. — One of the owners of a prominent Rogue Valley construction company is facing assault, among other charges.

Sources tell NBC5 News that Louis Mahar, of Mahar Brothers Construction, attacked a man at a party last weekend.

Mahar was booked into Jackson County Jail Tuesday on charges of assault, harassment, and disorderly conduct. He has since been released.

Sources tell us Mahar was intoxicated and harassing a woman at a party in Eagle Point, then attacked the woman’s husband, resulting in injuries.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office declined interview requests after forwarding the case to the district attorney’s office.

The alleged victim in the case, Shane Bishop, released a statement to NBC5 News, saying, “This was an attack on me that was completely unprovoked. The assailant’s aggression was witnessed by more than 15 witnesses, and as a result, he has been charged with several crimes. Any account to the contrary is total fabrication.”

We’re told the case will be reviewed by the D.A.’s office in the next several weeks to determine whether additional charges are warranted.

Phone messages left at Mahar Brothers Construction were not returned.
