nc_pulsememorial1021_1500x845Orland, Fla. (WESH) — Emotions ran high on Thursday evening in Orlando, Florida as Pulse Nightclub opened its gates for the first time since the tragic attack to unveil a new memorial.

The June 12 massacre left 49 people dead and is the worst mass shooting in modern U.S. history. Gunman Omar Mateen was killed by SWAT team members.

“We miss our 49 angels and this is something to keep it going and alive and respect their life here on earth,” said Orlando Torres, a survivor of the Pulse shooting.

A glimmer of hope as the Orlando community continues to mourn the loss of innocent lives.
