Puppy saved from fire dies, siblings recovering

Central Point, Ore.- One of the nine puppies burned in a garage fire earlier this month has died, according to Jackson County Fire District 3.

The puppies were rescued from an overnight fire that left a family without a home. They were taken for medical attention, then some were transferred to foster parents.

According to Fire District 3, of the surviving puppies, six are doing well and two are slowly healing from significant burns. Those puppies are expected to continue their recovery in body wraps with 24 hour care from their foster parents over the next six weeks.

The foster parents and veterinarians are asking the community to help with medical bills. Donations are being accepted at Jackson County Animal Care in Phoenix and VCA Jackson County Animal Hospital in Medford. In addition, a GoFundMe site has been established.

Fire District 3 says the puppies may be up for adoption within five weeks.
