Deputy Weber leaving Klamath County Sheriff’s Office

Klamath Falls, Ore. – Thursday was the last day on the job for a Klamath County Sheriff’s Deputy who was shot and seriously wounded about a year and a half ago.

Deputy Jason Weber is moving on from the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office.

“I’ve been here since December of 2008.”  Notes Deputy Weber.  “I love working with these guys here, and law enforcement, and the first responders, they’re – I hate to leave my family, but, it’s time to do something different.”

Deputy Weber was shot in the face and stomach during a traffic stop in August of 2014.

“It’s an open case.”  Points out Weber.  “I cannot discuss it.”

Police say William ‘Jack’ Parkerson was the gunman.

Parkerson is awaiting trial on charges of first-degree assault, and attempted aggravated murder.

Meanwhile, Deputy Weber’s condition has improved to the point where he was recently able to head back out on patrol.

“About two weeks now.”  States Weber.  “They gave me the chance to ride with a partner and get back into it.”

But, Weber is now getting ready to move out of the county, and take on a new job with the Oregon Liquor Control Commission.

“Chance to do something new.”  Said Deputy Weber.  “Just kind of move along – experience new things, learn more.”

Deputy Weber says he remains grateful to the people of Klamath County…

“I appreciate all their support.  I was kind of hard at time, and it’s just nice to know that people care. ”

Klamath County Sheriff Frank Skrah had high praise for Deputy Jason Weber, and thanked him for his service.
