Motorcycle Santas ride to help Toys for Tots

Klamath Falls, Ore. – A Klamath Falls motorcycle club rides to the rescue of a ‘Toys for Tots’ effort.

This is the fourth year the ‘Rip City Riders’ have helped out Toys for Tots.

“We had requests for over 500 kids,” explained Rip City Rider Mike ‘Preacher’ Germolus. “And Toys for Tots provided us with cards for each kid – their age, their sex, and what they wanted.”

The riders went out on a toy-buying spree over the weekend.

“It all started Friday night. We went down shopping at Walmart, spent a little over $6000 on toys,” said Germolus.

Walmart helped to boost the effort with a $2500 grant.

“We still had $1500 left over,” added Germolus. “So we went back in and just put frosting on the cake for them.”

The toys filled 3 pickup trucks at Lithia Ford Sunday morning.

And the Rip City Riders say they’re happy to be able to help out the kids on their wish list.

“Every kid that had a gift request, they got it,” said Germolus.

The Rip City Riders went out and solicited local businesses for donations for the Toys for Tots drive.

Toy donations are still needed, and can still be dropped off at the old Baptist Church at 707 High Street.
