OLCC experiencing surge in recreational marijuana licenses

weed pot marijuanaOre. –More than 230 businesses have applied for recreational marijuana licenses since the beginning of the week.

The Oregon Liquor Control commissioner says the first applicant was from Cave Junction about an hour after the online applications went live Monday morning.

The OLCC set up a call center to field the expected surge of activity and has answered more than 400 calls on recreational marijuana. The OLCC projects it will receive around 1,200 applications and will issue more than 850 licenses in 2017.
