Portland, Ore. — (KGW) Northeast Marine Drive was closed Monday afternoon after wind gusts blew an 18-wheeler off of the roadway.

Police were called just after 1 p.m. to the report of a semi truck rollover in the 7800 block of Northeast Marine Drive.

Officers and medical personnel learned the truck was blown off the road and it tumbled down toward the Columbia River, landing on its side. The driver was not injured, said Portland police Sgt. Pete Simpson.

Tow trucks were still working an hour later to pull the truck back up to the roadway.

“Marine Drive will remain closed from Northeast 33rd Avenue to 122nd Avenue for the time being due to the crash and additional risk due to the wind,” Simpson said.
