Property taxes up slightly in Klamath County

Klamath County, Ore. – The line formed at the Klamath County Tax Collector’s office early Monday morning.

“This is what we’d call the first day of tax season.”  Said Tax Collector Rick Vaughn.

Klamath County began mailing out the tax bills late last week.

“Property tax statements went out on the 25th of October.”  Notes Vaughn.  “People started receiving them this weekend – and the first payments are due November the 15th.”

Vaughn adds that most property owners are paying a little bit more than last year.  “In conversation with the Assessor’s Office, that taxes are up slightly this year – maybe 2 to 3 percent.”

Klamath County offers a 3 percent discount to those who make their full property tax payment by November 15th.
