Klamath Falls, Ore. – Klamath County Court officials are issuing a warning about a scam targeting potential jurors.
Klamath County Trial Court Administrator John Powell says several people received calls on Friday that they’d failed to appear for jury duty, and that a warrant had been issued for their arrest.
The only way to get the warrant cleared would be to pay a fine.
“Those individuals were told by the people on the phone to obtain a certain amount of money.” Notes Powell. “And then either meet them, or try to pay those amounts over the phone.”
The callers were requesting $800 to clear the warrant.
One man got the money out of the bank, and took it to the courthouse – where he was notified the call was just a scam.
