Estacada, Ore. — (KGW) An 18-year-old man drowned after he went under in the Clackamas River Wednesday afternoon and did not resurface.
The teen was swimming with two friends across the river near Milo McIver State Park when he went under, according to the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office. His friends made across to shore.
Rescuers arrived at the scene about 10 minutes after the teen went under. His body was recovered about an hour later, according to Estacada Fire.
The teen and his friends were not wearing life jackets, the sheriff’s office said.
His name was not immediately released.
