Eugene, Ore. — A 54-year-old woman is recovering after being hit by a train in Eugene early Monday morning.
The Register Guard reports that Kathy Tekansik was pushing a shopping cart across train tracks at west Fourth Avenue and Jefferson Street.
The train’s conductor saw her and used the horn and emergency brakes but Eugene Police say Tekansik did not appear to respond. She was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The train track was closed for several hours while police investigated.
