Rogue River teacher arrested for sexual abuse

Rogue River, Ore. — A Rogue River High School music teacher is behind bars tonight, after Sheriff’s Detectives said he had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old female student.  24-year old Rogue River man Jacob Vizcarra, is in Jackson County Jail charged with Sexual Abuse in the Second Degree, Sexual Abuse in the Third Degree, and Official Misconduct. Bail was set at $13,000.

Jackson County Sheriff’s Detective Eric Fox said they began their investigation on June 7th when the principal of Rogue River High School reported concerns about a possible inappropriate relationship between Vizcarra and a student.

“The principal had developed his own suspicions based on when a teacher was calling in sick and another student wasn’t there,” Fox said.

At this time, detectives say they don’t have reason to believe Vizcarra had inappropriate contact with any other students.
