Rogue River P.D. get sweet surprise

Rogue River, Ore., — With all the violence involving police officers right now, several Rogue Valley children are spreading a message hope to local law enforcement.

With a little help from their teachers, the kids at Mustard Seed School in Rogue River made a so-called  “Survival Kit for Law Enforcement Officers.”

Inside it’s filled with goodies and surprises to bolster the Rogue River Police Department.

“They save our lives and they die for it, just for us, just because we need saving and we need to help them.”, said 7-year-old Airies O’Neal.

These kids at Mustard Seed School in Rogue River are talking about the men and women in blue – local police officers.

This past week, the students showed support for the Rogue River Police Department with a surprise package.

“I got mine right here”

And officers like Chief Ken Lewis couldn’t be happier about it.

“A very touching gesture. not to mention the goodies come in handy.”

It’s a “survival kit” for cops.

“It’s a very unique idea.”

And while this one is filled with candy – Smarties “to give officers wisdom,” gum to “help everyone stick together”, with the recent police shootings in Dallas and elsewhere, cops say this survival kit’s message of support is a real life saver.

“Every candy we had, a lifesaver for saving a life, a Hershey kiss to say I love you, and I can’t remember the rest.” said 5 1/2-year-old Logan Glover.

“My favorite part about it was when we got to write things on it like thank you”, said 7 year old Airies O’Neal.

A simple heartfelt thank you, as only possible through the innocence of youth.

“I really want to be a police officer when I grow up.”

Each officer at the department received a survival kit. It’s just one way we’re seeing people in the valley rally behind officers to reassure them they are still supported.
