Rogue Valley Humane Society store vandalized nearly once a month

Grants Pass, Ore. — Staff at the Rogue Valley Humane Society reported that their Thrift Store was vandalized on Friday. The business has dealt with multiple break-ins in just the past six months, and shelter Director Margaret Varner is asking for the community’s help.

“They’re having to make repairs, and constantly having to take care of the damage from the vandalism, and it takes money from bringing back to the animals, so that’s where it really hurts us,” Varner said.

This is the fifth incident at the Thrift Store in the past six months.

“Not only does is affect the staff and volunteers morale, but it also most importantly it harms these guys,” Varner said, referring to the animals.

According to Varner, the money that comes into the shop normally goes straight to the animals, but when the building is vandalized, they need the funds for clean-up. She’s asking for the community’s help, requesting that people call police if they see anything suspicious.

“It really hurts the community, not just the animals, but the community, the staff, the volunteers, and it has a trickle affect,” Varner said.
