Search continues in N. California for missing couple

nc_missingcouple_1500x845(KCRA) — Rescue crews have resumed their search for a California couple missing in the El Dorado County wilderness.

Rory and Susan Holloter of Yuba City were last seen in the rural mountainous area of Wentworth Springs and Ice House roads, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office said.

“We’re not sure exactly where they’re at. We’re going off some pretty minute details at this point but we do have people who are very educated in the area,” said El Dorado County Sheriff Spokesman, Sgt. Todd Hammitt.

The husband and wife went for a drive in their white Dodge truck about 9 a.m. Saturday, officials said. They were last heard from about 12:40 p.m. Sunday when they sent a text to family members that they were stuck in the snow.

Family members eventually reported the couple missing, deputies said.

The couple’s family has been able to message Susan Holloter and received a few replies. However, they’re concerned about Rory Holloter who may be in a tougher situation.

“We don’t know what’s happened to him either because he left the vehicle and he hiked away from the vehicle,” Susan’s sister, Sondra Winberry, said. “We don’t know if he’s able to get back.”

They’re also messaging Susan Holloter, hopeful that she’s safe and warm.
