SOUTHERN OREGON — Severe weather across the Rogue Valley is leading to emergency shelters popping up this week. A severe weather shelter in Medford is seeking volunteers this week to help with shelter operations.
ACCESS is coordinating the efforts, in conjunction with the City of Medford as temperatures are expected to drop. ACCESS says the shelter is opening at 685 Market Street Monday through Wednesday.
As the shelter opens Monday, Access tells us it’s anticipating a full house. It says it can hold up to 60 people overnight. It says any time the shelter is open, it anticipates serving as many people as safely possible. Access says there is still a big need for volunteers.
“With the weather being so cold and just the overall need in the area, we do always see a very strong turn out of people needing this kind of service,” said Anna Wiley with Access.

The city of Medford says it won’t be enforcing tent camping during the severe weather event declaration.
