Shelters, churches, restaurants offer free Thanksgiving meals

pumpkin pieMedford, Ore. —  Several churches, shelters, and local restaurants are offering free Thanksgiving meals around the Rogue Valley. At Café Dejeuner, employees will be serving up a free turkey lunch with all the fixings. The restaurant has been doing this since 2008 as a way to give back, and the employees love it just as much as the patrons.

“Last year we let the employees have Thanksgiving day off with their families and they all voted to volunteer to be here and help the community again this year,” manager Theresa Sproul says.

The East Main Street restaurant will open its doors from 11 am to 3 pm. They expect to serve more than 150 people.

Other free meals will be offered around the region including:
Phoenix Community Kitchen from 1pm to 3pm.
The Medford First Christian Church from 2pm to 5pm.
The Rogue Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship at 4pm.
The Real Life Church from 3pm to 5pm.
The Medford Gospel Mission from 1:30pm to 3pm.
