Siskyou County, Calif. — The fate of a new jail in Siskiyou County now rests in voters’ hands.
The Siskiyou County Board of Supervisors voted 3-2 last week to send a .25% tax for construction of a new county jail to the November ballot.
On Monday, the board voted to place another .25% tax to use for specific purposes toward that construction.
The taxes will be used to pay for a loan to secure the $27 million in funding. The entire project is expected to cost around 37 million dollars.
