Sixth Southern Oregon Pride Festival draws hundreds to Ashland

Ashland, Ore. — Hundreds of people gathered in Ashland today for the annual Southern Oregon Pride Parade and Festival.

Rainbow banners, flags, umbrellas and outfits filled the streets as the parade made it’s way down Siskiyou boulevard at 11 this morning.

This year’s theme is “be yourself, change the world.”

This is the sixth year of the event and participants NBC5 spoke with say it’s now a tradition for them.

“We do this every year,” said First Congregational United Church of Christ Reverend Paula Sohl, “We get a good turn out of folks who come to wear their bright colors and express their solidarity with our LGBTQ people from our own community and throughout our community and throughout the world.”

Vendors also lined the streets and the Rogue Suspects provided live music in Lithia park.
