Snow falls in the California Sierras

NEAR DONNER SUMMIT, Calif. (KCRA/NBC) – Winter arrived in the California Sierras overnight and snow blowers were out when the sun came up.

But before dawn, drivers struggled to make it up and over donner summit on Interstate 80.

The highway was briefly closed while crews dealt with spinouts, wrecks and the accumulation of snow.

Of course, the few inches that fell were welcome at the Soda Springs Ski Resort and others, a sign ski season isn’t far off.
