Southbound I-5 re-opened near Weed after crash

Update (01/06/20 1:30 p.m.) – Southbound Interstate 5 is open after a semi-truck crash near Weed blocked both lanes. Chain controls are still in effect in the area.

Original story: EDGEWOOD, Calif. – A jack-knifed semi-truck is blocking the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 near Weed, California.

Caltrans said the crash happened sometime before 11:20 a.m. on January 16 near Flume Creek. Because it’s blocking both lanes, southbound I-5 was closed at Edgewood, just north of Weed.

The truck spilled fuel, which will require cleanup.All Posts

Caltrans said there is not an estimated time for when the southbound lanes will reopen.
