“Special Ed’s Brewery” triggers backlash in California

Galt, Calif. (KCRA) — A California business with the controversial name “Special Ed’s Brewery” is now a victim of vandalism after someone threw two large rocks at the windows, shattering one of them.

“I was mad,” owner Ed Mason said. “There’s no two ways about it. That’s a 4-digit window there.”

Galt police are investigating the incident. Lt. Charles Dedriksen said detectives are not only working to determine who threw the rocks, but also why.

“Regardless if there’s frustration there or not, vandalizing this man’s business isn’t going to accomplish anything,” Dedriksen said. “It’s just going to add to it, and we hope that this will be the end of it.”

Meanwhile, Mason has announced that he will change the name of the brewery after an intense backlash from the public and several national organizations.
