Stolen cars in Medford

MPD SYSTEMMedford, Ore., — Medford Police have been busy, recovering three stolen cars this weekend.

Officers say the first case stems from an incident on Cedar Street.

A woman’s car broke down late last night, when police say 22-year-old Robert Simpson walked up to help her.

Police say he told the woman he wanted to listen to the engine, started the car, and then took off in it.

Officers later found Simpson driving the car down Central Avenue.

He is behind bars tonight.

Prior to the theft, Simpson was taken into custody on Friday, after police found stolen guns and credit cards on him, but he was quickly released.

MPD also came across another stolen car last night.

Police found a 2007 Honda Pilot at Modoc and Spring Street.

Officers say they contacted 30-year-old Aaron Eaton, who was inside the car, but he took off on foot.

Police K9 Barry found him hiding in a nearby house.

Eaton was taken into custody, and is now at the Jackson County Jail.

The third case involved a stolen car from Ashland.

31-year-old Amber Humphrey was arrested after Medford Police say they found the vehicle on Stewart and Jasper streets, with different license plates and spray painted black.

Police say the car was returned to its owner in Ashland.
