Brookings, Ore. – The Curry County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Team helped to save a person stranded on a rock at Harris Beach State Park on Saturday.
The Curry County Sheriff’s Office said they received a report of a man who was stuck on a small ledge roughly 50 feet the ground at around 5:40 p.m.
Deputies said due to bad weather, a Coast Guard helicopter assist was not an option.
The CCSO said that around 8:21 p.m. a rope system was set up and crews were able to rappel down the face of the rock, harness the stranded man, and lower him safely down to the beach.
