Grants Pass, Ore., — A reunion more than two decades in the making, becomes a heartwarming surprise for an 86-year-old Grants Pass woman.
“Surprised? I think I could have fainted!”
It’s been years since 86-year-old Grants Pass woman Marjory Jacobs has been face to face with her granddaughter, Christy Lundstrom.
“I’m shocked, I’m overwhelmed, I cant believe I’m actually here.”
They were divided by distance, Lundstrom moved away, and for 22 years they only had the telephone to keep them in touch.
“She means the world to me, she’s been the rock in my life, someone I can talk to whenever I need. She’s helped me out in so many ways she probably doesn’t even realize it.”
Lundstrom is one of 14 people to win Olive Garden’s “Never Ending Family Table” giveaway out of thousands of applicants.
And though they only get about 24 hours together, for Lundstrom the opportunity to surprise her grandma was still a no brainer.
“You never know how long at this age, you’re going to be here, so anything is a… yeah.”
“My daughter especially is going to have these memories forever.”
Making the occasion even more special for Jacobs – she’s meeting her great grand daughter, Zoe, for the very first time.
“I’m just really thankful to Olive Garden and everyone, this is just great, I would have never been able to do this.”
