Suspect caught in Medford transporting 6 kilos of cocaine

Medford, Ore. – A driver was arrested in Medford after he was caught with 6 kilos of cocaine during a traffic stop.

Oregon State Police said shortly after 1:00 Friday morning, an OSP trooper pulled over a vehicle on Interstate 5 near milepost 33 for a traffic violation.

According to OSP, 30-year-old Washington resident Juan Yonic Perez Palafox, was the only occupant in the vehicle.

The trooper suspected criminal activity and asked to search the vehicle. Perez Palafox consented.

In the backseat of the 2007 Mercury SUV, the trooper found 6 kilos (13.2 pounds) of cocaine.

Perez Palafox was arrested on charges of possession, deliver and manufacturing of cocaine.
