Texas governor rescinds mask mandate, capacity guidelines

LUBBOCK, Texas (NBC) – A major announcement on COVID-19 protocol came out of Texas on Tuesday.

Governor Greg Abbott announced that beginning next Wednesday, all businesses can reopen at full capacity and additionally, the state’s mask mandate is no longer needed.

Governor Abbott also said his new executive order allows for restrictions to return should hospitalizations of COVID-19 patients top 15% for more than seven consecutive days.

Abbott delivered his remarks before a group of small business and community leaders of the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce.
