Thieves target unlocked cars

0210 superior theftMedford, Ore. – The Medford Police Department is reporting that some traveling thieves are in the Rogue Valley. Officers say they’ve had around six cases over the last few years with the same group who they think are from out of the area.

MPD says the thieves often target the parking lots of Superior Athletic Clubs, looking for unlocked cars. They are looking for purses, wallets, or other items left behind while the victims are inside working out.

The thieves take only one or two cards, leaving money and other property behind so they have more time before the theft is discovered. According to officers, the thieves then go on a shopping spree, which has typically been Target, Best Buy, and Ulta. The vehicle they drive varies, but the plates are always removed.

Police encourage the public not to leave wallets or purses behind in their vehicles. If you recognize the woman or vehicle in the photos, or if you have any information about this case please call the Medford Police Department at 541-774-2250
