Thousands still without power in southern Oregon

Medford, Ore. – Widespread power outages continue to affect Pacific Power customers in the areas of Cave Junction, Kerby, Medford and Selma.

According to Pacific Power, there are isolated outages in the Rogue River area as well, along with scattered outages west of Grants Pass.

Pacific Power crews are battling to restore power to around 3,809 customers Thursday morning.

Crews from as far away as Portland have been called in to help, and Pacific Power is even deploying helicopter patrols to track down the sources of the many outages.

Severe weather is being blamed for the power interruption, and with cold temperatures and more snow in the forecast, Pacific Power reminds the public the Red Cross has opened a warming shelter in Cave Junction for those in need of shelter assistance.

The shelter is located in the Cave Junction City Hall at 222 West Lister Street in Cave Junction.
